Summer Skin Issues

Summer means glorious sunshine. It also means various skin problems. But special care and precautions can prevent much pain.
Taking an umbrella might be cumbersome, but it is the best way to prevent sun burn and sun damage to skin. Stay indoors during the hottest part of the day. If you must go outside take an umbrella or wear a cap. Wear long sleeved clothes to avoid exposure to sun’s harmful rays. Apply sunscreen to prevent damage to skin from UV rays. This could lead to skin cancer over time.
If you get a heat rash or prickly heat, treat it gently. Keep your skin clean by bathing in cool water. Pat dry and avoid wiping away sweat as it will irritate your skin. Mild calamine lotion will soothe itchy skin.
Too much sun can lead to sun burn. The skin turns red and is painful to touch. Severe sun burns can led to blisters and swelling. You may feel feverish develop chills, headache and weakness. Later as the skin heals it turns itchy and starts to peel. Apply cold compress on the affected skin and apply a cream containing aloe for relief.
If due to unavoidable sun exposure your skin is damaged, if your skin is tanned and has developed dark spots and fine lines, don’t worry, there are solutions for that too. Chemical peels, laser spot removal and fillers for fine lines will help you regain your lost radiance.
Finally, drink plenty of water and keep yourself hydrated. This goes a long way in maintaining youthful skin.
So beware but don’t fear summer.
