What happens during a rhinoplasty
You will be given either a general or local anesthesia. The surgeon will make the incision either outside your nose between your nostrils or inside the nose. Depending on your problem, the bone, cartilage and/or soft tissue are adjusted to suit the desired outcome. The entire nose from bridge to nose tip can be modified through rhinoplasty. On completion of surgery, the incision is closed with sutures. You may have a splint in place for support till healing or your nose may be packed depending on the procedure performed.
Post rhinoplasty care
You will be able to return home the same day, but you must take extra care of your nose and the area surrounding it. Using cold compress on the area will help you manage bruising and swelling, which would gradually reduce over 10 to 14 days. You will have to take a break from your normal routine till they subside.
